Cagliari Calcio is pleased to announce the contract renewal of Adam Obert, who has signed a new agreement until June 30, 2029.
Born in Bratislava in 2002, he arrived in Italy at just 16 years old, joining the youth ranks of Sampdoria. Noticed by Cagliari, in the summer of 2021, he continued his career on the Island. He was initially added to the Primavera team, making his debut on August 21 against Lecce. During the season, he made 18 appearances and scored 1 goal, contributing to the team’s qualification for the playoffs and coming close to reaching the Scudetto final. Despite his young age, he quickly became part of the first team: he made his Serie A debut on October 24, at 19 years old, away in Florence. Between Serie A and the Coppa Italia, he made 8 appearances.
The 2022/23 season becomes the one of his breakthrough: he played 35 matches and established himself as a key player in the team’s immediate return to the top flight. He confirmed his qualities in the following Serie A season: he totaled 20 games and made a valuable contribution to securing the team’s survival.
A cultured left-footed player with physical strength and versatility, Obert has been used both as a central defender and a full-back, a role in which he can exploit his pace and crossing ability. He has undergone a constant growth process. So far in this season, he has made 14 appearances: with a standout assist – winning the ball back, making a solo run to turn a defensive action into an attacking one, and delivering a vertical pass to Piccoli – he was one of the key players in the away victory against Monza on January 5th. Two weeks later, in Cagliari-Lecce 4-1, he scored his first professional goal with a superb left-footed shot into the top corner.
He has made 13 appearances for the Slovakia U21 national team, making his debut on November 20, 2022, with the senior national team. He already boasts 11 caps, including 2 appearances in the 2024 European Championship in Germany.
The future is yours, forward together Adam!
