Guest on Radiolina’s show “Il Cagliari in Diretta,” Roberto Muzzi spoke about the upcoming Primavera Coppa Italia semifinal, scheduled for Wednesday, 12th at 15:00 against Juventus: a knockout match at the Crai Sport Center (Click here for tickets).
THE PRIMAVERA’S JOURNEY
Before that, however, the challenge on Saturday against Roma, at 13:00 at the Crai Sport Center. “In the Primavera Coppa Italia semifinal, we will face a very strong team like Juventus. Next Wednesday, we hope to have many fans at our sports center; the players need them, and for them, this achievement is very important for personal growth in terms of human, technical, and athletic development. In the meantime, on Saturday, we play against Roma, an important match for our journey because, from now until the end, we want to win as many matches as possible to see where we end up in the standings. Reaching the final stages of a competition like the Coppa Italia means a lot for the entire Youth Sector, whose task is to prepare as many players as possible for the difficult leap into professional football.”
THE PHILOSOPHY OF THE YOUTH SECTOR
“Coach Fabio Pisacane is doing an important job with the Primavera, but then there are Bernardo Mereu, Pierluigi Carta, Mattia Belfiori, Oscar Erriu, all technical and managerial figures who work with the players every day, both on and off the field. Cagliari works with underage prospects in the various categories; in Primavera, we have several 2008 and 2007 players, and a few 2009s who are starting to integrate into the group, and the same goes for the lower categories. The result is important, but above all, what matters is what you build over time, prioritizing the future.”
WORKING WITH YOUNG PLAYERS
“It takes patience; not all players have the same physical or moral characteristics. In the growth process, there are many variables that need to be carefully evaluated, with patience, by monitoring them over time. In history, there are many talents who didn’t emerge, or perhaps did so more slowly, due to their own limitations or because the right patience wasn’t there. The goal should always be to work with a long-term perspective, not for immediate results, reaping the fruits of a process that involves many parts of the Club.”
