Cagliari Under-20 suffered a narrow defeat on the first day of the second half of the season. At the CRAI Sport Center in Assemini, Roma won 2-1, a first-half victory.

The start was balanced, with Cagliari attempting to threaten on the counterattack: in the 4th minute, Cavuoti warmed up Marcaccini’s gloves, who was quick to respond to the Rossoblu midfielder’s shot. As the minutes ticked by, Roma grew stronger, taking the lead in the 14th minute: a rebound favored Della Rocca, who quickly fired a first-time shot to the near post, beating Auseklis. The Giallorossi pressed on, and in the 23rd minute they doubled their lead with a quality play: Morucci controlled the ball on the edge of the box and unleashed a precise shot to the far post, making it 2-0. Cagliari felt the blow and struggled to react, while Roma controlled possession with composure. Late in the first half, the Sardinians even found a way to score through Costa, but the goal was disallowed. The visitors thus went into halftime with a two-goal lead.

In the second half, Cagliari attempted to raise their focus and gain control. The Rossoblu increased possession in the opposition half, but struggled to create clear chances until the half-hour mark. However, the goal that reopened the game arrived in the 72nd minute: Hamdaoua broke through on the right and played an inviting ball to Mendy, who beat Marcaccini with a first-time pass to make it 2-1. Cagliari’s pressure mounted towards the end. Roma consolidated, disrupting the rhythm and even resorting to fouls: in the 84th minute, Seck was booked for blocking Mendy as he ran towards goal. The best chance to equalize came in injury time: in the 93rd minute, Cogoni’s long-range shot hit the crossbar with the keeper beaten, shaking the Giallorossi defense.
