After the defeat in Reggio Emilia, Sebastiano Esposito, scorer of the penalty that gave the rossoblù the temporary lead, speaks out.

SORRY TO THE FANS
“First of all, we apologize to our fans. We’re returning home with a bad defeat despite a good first half. We’re deeply disappointed, especially for our fans who make enormous sacrifices to support us at home and away. We know how difficult it is for the Sardinians and Cagliari fans to support their team, so we have to react. We need to be more united and more united as a team. To stay up, we need more. We take our responsibilities as a group and as individuals. Our apologies also go to the coach and the staff, who do a tremendous job and to whom it’s right that we give more, starting with a win against Cremonese.”

WORK AND REACT
“It’s a difficult moment, we have to react because we don’t deserve to be down there. We don’t want to be sucked into the mix, we’ll have to give more starting next week because it hasn’t been enough so far. We’re not looking for excuses, we know our responsibilities, we apologize to our fans and we’ll start again with even more determination. Cremonese awaits us, the first of seven finals, we can’t look at the others but rather at home and secure survival. We’re united, an excellent group, I’ve said it in good times and again today, we’re all united among our teammates and with the coach, we’ll bounce back together.”

We’re giving 100%, and now we have the toughest obstacles of the season ahead of us after overcoming so many others. We’re sorry for ourselves, for our families, for the coach who deserves it more, and for the fans, so we all have to react together and secure survival. It’s not enough to just play one half like we did today. I don’t know how this negative change in performance could have happened after halftime: we need to improve, because if you’re able to play 45 minutes like that, it means you can and must do better in every way. Everyone, every member of the team, must find solutions in a proactive way to achieve our goal: survival.”
