2026/27 Pre-Season: Training Camp Gets Underway

The group will reconvene the following morning to begin medical examinations and initial fitness testing, which will take place on Thursday, July 9, and Friday, July 10, between the Assemini Training Centre and the Casa della Salute Medical Centre in Cagliari. These two days will serve as preparation for the start of pre-season training. The training camp will officially begin on the evening of Sunday, July 12, at the CRAI Sport Center. From Monday, July 13, the squad will begin its regular twice-daily training sessions, with workouts scheduled in the morning and afternoon.

A total of 31 players have been called up. In addition to new signings Demi Akarakiri and Alessandro Romano, the squad also includes U20 goalkeeper Atanas Kehayov, born in 2007. Kingstone will join the group from Friday, July 10. Yerry Mina is currently on international duty with Colombia at the FIFA World Cup, while Riyad Idrissi continues his rehabilitation following a knee injury.

The first phase of pre-season preparation will conclude on Wednesday, July 22, when Cagliari leaves Sardinia to continue training in the Pontedilegno-Tonale mountain area. The team will stay at the “Blu Hotel Acquaseria” and will return to the pitch on Thursday, July 23, for a morning training session at the municipal stadium in Temù, followed in the afternoon by the first official pre-season friendly against Sampdoria. The second friendly match will be played against Modena on Tuesday, July 28. Both matches are scheduled to kick off at 5:00 p.m.In addition to attending training sessions (scheduled for 10:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., with any changes to be communicated later) and the friendly matches, supporters will also have the opportunity to meet the team during a special Rossoblù-themed evening event in the main square of Ponte di Legno on Saturday, July 25.

On Saturday, August 1, Cagliari will leave the Alps and travel to Germany. The following day, Sunday, August 2 (2:00 p.m.), the Rossoblù will face Union Berlin in a friendly match at the An der Alten Försterei Stadium. The final pre-season test ahead of the Coppa Italia will take place on Saturday, August 8, at the Unipol Domus, where Cagliari will host Nice in the second edition of the Gigi Riva Trophy.
