🎙️ INTERVIEW | CEO Melis ahead of Atalanta-Cagliari

Cagliari CEO Stefano Melis spoke to SKY and DAZN ahead of Atalanta-Cagliari. Here is what he had to say:

WORK AND YOUNG PLAYERS
“The best start to a season since 2011? Having had the same coaching staff for over a year certainly helps, as does having an important core of players, as it creates the foundations for the results we are achieving today, just as we did last season. We want to continue along this path, with the work of the Head Coach, his staff and everyone at the Club. We are pleased with the start to the season: the Club wanted to add quality and more young players. As part of our philosophy, we look to have as many Italian players as possible whenever the right circumstances arise, without forgetting the experience that is always needed within a squad. Fazzini and Maldini crucial for this team? We are pleased, as we are with the fact that many Italian players are playing an important role in this group: alongside Fazzini and Maldini, I am thinking of Caprile, Romano, Kofler and many other young players. This is what we want to continue building on and, without a doubt, seeing important results in this regard gives us satisfaction and motivates us to keep improving, following our philosophy of work.”

WELCOME BACK YAEL, BEST WISHES TO MATTIA
“It is emotional and wonderful to have Yael back with us, seeing him among our fans before the game. He has recovered in a relatively short period of time after that terrible accident, which could have had tragic consequences: what happened was as close to a miracle as you can get. Having him back by our side gives us enormous joy. At the same time, it was disappointing to have to deal with Felici’s setback in recent days, after he suffered another unfortunate knee injury. We wish him all the very best and hope he can return in the best possible shape, as he did in the previous months, before this unfortunate setback that nobody wanted.”

THE NEW STADIUM
“The stadium? First of all, congratulations to Atalanta, who are showing us that it is possible to build and renovate stadiums in Italy as well. On top of that, we have an industrial partner from Bergamo, Costim Real Estate, so who knows, perhaps they could help us. Joking aside, we are very close to the public tender – which will be launched by the Municipality – for the demolition and construction works for our new stadium. We are continuing to work with the designers and the institutions so that we can truly give the city and Sardinia a state-of-the-art public stadium in line with modern standards.”
