🎙️ INTERVIEW | Head Coach Pisacane with Radio TV Serie A

On the sidelines of the meeting between the refereeing authorities and representatives of the Serie A clubs, held in the conference room of the International Broadcast Center in Lissone, Head Coach Pisacane spoke to Radio TV Serie A and the media present. His comments:

MORE EFFECTIVE PLAYING TIME
“I really like the new rules: the more we play, the better. It is a rule that applies to everyone, including a team like ours that is fighting to stay up and that, let’s not hide it, sometimes tries to slow the game down a little. This is what entertainment is all about. We are getting closer to one of the best leagues in the world, the Premier League: during these first five matchdays, effective playing time has come close to an hour, which is a lot. Credit must go to everyone, especially the referees and the head of the refereeing department, who has played his part.”

THE IMPORTANCE OF WEEKLY WORK
“Are these situations trained differently nowadays? It is part of the methodology: people often say, ‘difficult training, easy game’ or ‘easy training, difficult game’. During your training sessions throughout the week, you have to get as close as possible to match conditions. We, like I believe many other teams, were already doing that before. The idea is always to go at full intensity, within our actual capabilities, because it gives you an advantage.”

HUMBLE, UNITED AND DETERMINED
“We have made an unexpected start. But it is what we wanted, and what we work for, even though we have gone beyond our most optimistic expectations. We are happy to have started this way, but we are also fully aware of how long and difficult the road ahead will be. As I told the players, one sort of mini-tournament is over and a new one will begin after the break. We know we have put points in the bank, but at the same time we have to keep fighting: we will face plenty of challenges along the way and we have to be ready for them. That is why we must always remain united, humble and determined. In Udine, for the first time this season, we played in the early afternoon, at 3pm, and in a sense I was worried about a possible drop-off. Instead, the team gave me the answers I was looking for and showed its ability to suffer. But suffering does not worry me when it is organised, shared and accompanied by a spirit of sacrifice.”

ON DANIEL MALDINI
“After five matchdays, Daniel has earned the satisfaction of receiving a call-up to the national team. He needs to find the consistency that has been missing in recent years, but we believe Cagliari can be the right environment for him. There are the right people here who can help him along this path.”

THE BREAK COMES AT THE RIGHT TIME
“The long break? Some might think it has come at the wrong time for us. We, on the other hand, are aware that it has come at the right time. It allows some of the players who have spent a lot of energy during these first five games to catch their breath, while also giving some of the players who arrived in the final days of the transfer window the chance to regain their fitness. It is like starting again. There will be pros and cons, but we are happy to be able to get everyone up to speed.”
