“Mari e Perda”, the Third Kit 2024/2025

Rossoblù World - 16/07/2024

The colors and veins of obsidian, the golden value of byssus: these are the pearls that inspire “Mari e Perda”, Cagliari Third Kit 2024/2025. One of the outfits for the new season will therefore be strongly linked to the greatest excellences of Sardinia, combining history, culture, uniqueness and unprecedented creativity.

THE SHIRT
Obsidian, a volcanic stone used in Sardinia since the pre-Nuragic age for its characteristics of hardness, resistance and workability, finds fulfillment in the color black, for the first time to dominate and characterize one of the team’s Match Kits. The armhole is made unique by a golden detail, the right sleeve has a silicone application that recalls the golden thread of the Bisso, a precious yarn obtained from the Pinna Nobilis, historically used for the creation of Sardinian handicraft embroidery. On the back of the collar the writing “Mari e Perda”: the sea emblem of tenacity and strength, the stone of strength and malleability of the obsidian. Inside the collar the sweatband personalized with the writings Cagliari Calcio and EYE Sport. At the end of the shirt the writings “Casteddu” and “Mari e Perda”. Also inside we find the new label applied that certifies the user in the case of a shirt worn by footballers or by an individual fan.

TIMELESS PLACES AND STORIES
The launch of the Third Kit 2024/2025 highlights the details of the two characterizing elements. Thanks to the archaeologist Maria Cristina Ciccone, head of educational services at the Obsidian Museum in Pau (OR), we discover one of only two museums in the world dedicated to obsidian, which exclusively tells the story of this stone formed millions of years ago and used by local communities at least eight thousand years ago. The magic still resides today in the Obsidian Park, in Monte Arci (which is located between the Campidano plain of Oristano and Alta Marmilla in Sardinia), the place where this incredible story took place many years ago and where the remains of processing dating back to the Neolithic era can still be found.

Maestro Chiara Vigo then welcomes us to a place where it is possible to find something unimaginable. The Byssus Museum in Sant’Antioco (SU) preserves a multitude of stories that speak of ancient knowledge handed down from generation to generation with byssus as the protagonist. Chiara Vigo, one of the last witnesses of a past to be preserved, tells in first person to those who visit the Museum, explaining how byssus – the filament that the largest bivalve shell in the Mediterranean, the Pinna Nobilis or castanets, emits to anchor itself to the seabed – was collected (before the Pinna Nobilis became a protected species) in a specific period of the year by diving underwater using a technique that did not compromise the survival of the shell itself. Then the inlay work began for various purposes: long and laborious, which combined with the relative scarcity of the product and the fineness of the thread make it highly prized.

COMFORT AND SUSTAINABILITY
The Third match jersey – an official EYE Sport Cagliari Calcio product, designed and produced in Sardinia – is made of recycled Check Mesh fabric and offers maximum freedom of movement. The yarn is subjected to Wiking treatment to ensure maximum comfort, breathability and resistance during sports performances. The jersey has a practical V-neck. On the front you can find the Cagliari Calcio logo on the heart side, in this case represented by just the 4 Moors, and on the opposite side the EYE Sport logo. Both logos are made of latest-generation silicone with a weight reduced by over 70%. NFC tag on the front at the end of the jersey. The Third match shorts are made of 100% Polyester Interlock fabric. The fabric is treated with Wicking technology to ensure breathability and speed up drying. Sweat is immediately expelled, promoting evaporation, avoiding stagnation and ensuring rapid drying of the skin. Waistband made of Elastic Jacquard inlaid with the writing Casteddu and EYE Sport. Round laces to adjust the fit of the shorts. On the front are the Cagliari Calcio logos, in this case represented by just the 4 Moors, and on the opposite side EYE Sport. Both logos in latest-generation silicone with weight reduced by over 70%. In the side slits, a tribute to the year in which Cagliari Calcio won the championship. The socks are made of polyamide and elastane fabric, cotton foot, ribbed compression area at the height of the Achilles tendon that guarantees greater support and to improve comfort. The Cagliari Calcio writing appears on the shin and the EYE Sport logo on the upper part. The cuff is embellished with a gold detail.
