Cagliari Calcio continues to showcase its strong connection with Sardinia through innovative initiatives and projects of wide scope and international reach. One such project is the editorial venture “Glory – Magazine & City Stories,” an exclusive publication that explores the Club, the city of Cagliari, and the whole of Sardinia. It’s not just about football, but a journey through the history, culture, excellence, and unique features of the island, highlighting the deep bond between Cagliari, the territory, and its people.
“Glory” offers a unique journey through the streets of Cagliari, leading to the historic landmarks of the rossoblù legacy. The magazine’s pages are enriched with stories and testimonies from figures such as Gianfranco Zola, Claudio Ranieri, Nahitan Nandez, Gianluca Lapadula, Tommaso Giulini, Francesco Abate, and Dori Ghezzi, among others. Each story is a piece of the puzzle that highlights the special bond these personalities share with Sardinia, reflecting both their football successes and personal life experiences.
In addition to football, “Glory” offers an in-depth look at the culture and iconic places of the city of Cagliari, providing recommendations on the best spots to stay, eat, drink, have fun, and explore in Sardinia. It is a work created by Cagliari Calcio with the aim of giving readers a complete immersion into the heart of both football and the life of Cagliari and the island.
The “Glory” project is, along with other events, at the heart of the Mediterranea Publishing Fellowship, a city event taking place from September 3 to 5 in Cagliari. Sponsored by the Municipality and the University of Cagliari, the event brings together prominent figures from the national and international publishing scene. The goal of the initiative is to build industrial relationships and promote the city of Cagliari as a potential key hub for publishing in the Mediterranean.
The scheduled conferences focus on topics such as the cultural and economic horizons of Sardinia, inclusivity in the publishing sector, and the impact of cultural events on the local area. In this context, Cagliari Calcio stands out as one of the key stakeholders, not only on the sports front but also in the cultural sphere, with particular emphasis on the “Glory” project, which fits seamlessly into the panels of the convention.
The words of the General Manager of Cagliari Calcio, Stefano Melis:“Glory is a project overseen by the entire business and media division of Cagliari Calcio, and we are proud to see every part of the Club involved every day, on many fronts, in promoting the territory and telling the powerful story of the bond between the team, the fans, and Sardinians all over the world. We are surrounded by unconditional love. ‘Glory’ is a tool that seeks to bring the essence of the Club beyond regional and national borders, telling the story of the team, the city, and Sardinia from a broader perspective. I like to think of the ‘Glory’ project as a high-quality product for the fans, the enthusiasts, and in general, for citizens worldwide who want to connect with our world. Being able to present it in front of many international publishers is both a privilege and a great opportunity, especially in such a significant city event that celebrates the initiatives of local stakeholders and has the support of key institutions such as the Municipality and the University of Cagliari. Sardinia and Cagliari have many excellences, and Cagliari Calcio is one of them, and we will continue to do our part.”
n addition to the General Manager of Cagliari Calcio, the following individuals took part: the Councillor for Culture of the Municipality of Cagliari, Maria Francesca Chiappe; for Cagliari Calcio, the Head of Communications and Editorial Coordinator of the “Glory” project, Fabio Frongia, along with the Partnership Manager Matteo Sechi. Also present were Ciro Auriemma, Silvia Crobu, Gianmarco Pia, and Alessi Schreiber, the head of Ischire, the publishing house organizing the Mediterranea Publishing Fellowship.
