Coman to Cagliari

First Team - 03/02/2025

Cagliari Calcio is pleased to announce the acquisition of the sporting rights of player Florinel Coman, who moves from Al-Gharafa SC on loan until the end of the 2024/25 season.

Born on April 10, 1998, in Brăila, Romania, he grew up in Farul Constanța, where, at just 17 years old, he made his debut in the Romanian top division. He immediately showcased his qualities and, despite his young age, proved to be a valuable asset in the 2016/17 championship win, scoring 4 goals, providing 2 assists, and delivering brilliant plays.

“In the summer of 2017, he moved to the prestigious Steaua Bucharest, where he scored his first brace on October 22 in a victory against ACS Poli Timișoara. Two weeks later, he netted his first goal in the Europa League in a 1-1 draw against Hapoel Be’er Sheva. This marked the beginning of a journey that would see him become one of the most important players in the team. In Bucharest, he played 7 seasons: over 230 appearances, 63 goals, and 62 assists. Winner of the 2019/20 Romanian Cup, last season he earned the title of league top scorer with 18 goals, which, along with his 10 assists, were crucial for winning the Romanian SuperLiga. Last July, he moved to Qatar to join Al-Gharafa, where he has played 19 games so far this season, scoring 3 goals and providing 8 assists.”

After progressing through his country’s youth national teams, he made his debut for the senior national team on October 12, 2019. He has since earned 20 caps and scored 2 goals, also being called up for the recent European Championship in Germany.

Technique, speed, and ball progression: Coman is an attacking winger who prefers to start on the left and cut inside, either shooting with his right foot or setting up his teammates to score. His dribbling and ease of running allow him to be particularly effective in one-on-one situations and during counterattacks. With a powerful and accurate shot, excellent vision, and thanks to his physical strength, he can also occasionally play as a central forward.

Talent and flair at the service of the team: welcome to Sardinia, Florinel!
