Cagliari Calcio is pleased to announce the contract extension of player Zito Luvumbo, who will remain with the rossoblù colors until June 30, 2028, with an option for an additional season in favor of the Club.
Born in Luanda in 2002, the Angolan international arrived on the Island at just 18 years old, initially playing for the Primavera team, with which he played 19 matches and scored 5 goals in his first season. After a brief stint at Como, he returned to prominence in the Primavera 1 league, scoring 11 goals and playing a key role in the team’s near-miss at reaching the Scudetto final.
The following year, he made his debut with the first team, gradually carving out more space for himself with his explosive accelerations and sharp turns that left his opponents behind. His first goal came on September 10, 2022, in a 2-0 away win against Benevento. On May 30, 2023, in the first leg of the Playoff semi-final at Unipol Domus, Cagliari was trailing by two goals. The forward came on in the second half and turned the game around: a brace, a penalty won, and it was the match that definitively established him as a key player. His performance in this game played a crucial role in securing a victory that would prove decisive for the team’s immediate return to Serie A.
The forward continued to prove himself in Serie A as well: last season, he was one of the key players in securing survival, with 4 goals and 6 assists. This year, he scored against Lazio and provided the assist for Zortea’s goal in the victory over Parma.
So far, there have been 93 appearances in the rossoblù colors: Cagliari and Zito, a present and future to be written together.
