Gagliardini signs for Cagliari

Cagliari Calcio is pleased to announce the acquisition of Roberto Gagliardini’s registration rights, who has signed a contract until June 30, 2027, with an option to extend the contract for a further season.

A complete midfielder, capable of combining physical structure, intensity and interpreting both phases of the game, he brings to Sardinia experience and personality gained in over a decade of football at the highest levels. At an international level he also wore the shirt of the Italian Under 20 and Under 21 national teams, with which he participated in the European Category Championship in 2017. In the same year he made his debut with the senior national team, playing a total of seven matches in blue: his debut dates back to 28 March in the 2-1 success at the Netherlands.

Born in 1994, originally from Dalmine (Bergamo) where he took his very first steps as a footballer, he moved to Atalanta at the age of 7 where he developed until landing in the first team, making his professional debut on December 4, 2013 against Sassuolo in the 2-0 victory in the round of 32 of the Coppa Italia.

Before dedicating himself to the Nerazzurri, he spent time on loan at Cesena – with whom he made his Serie B debut on 22 January 2014, scoring in the 3-1 victory in Varese – Spezia and Vicenza. In the middle of the 2015/2016 season he left the Venetian club and returned to Bergamo: he made his debut in Serie A on 15 May 2016, at the age of 22, starting the last day of the championship on the Genoa pitch. The 2016/2017 season is that of his definitive success: thanks to his performances he attracts the attention of Inter, who hire him already in January and make him one of the pivots of the midfield. With the Nerazzurri he won a Scudetto, two Italian Cups, two Italian Super Cups, reaching the Champions League final in 2023. In total 190 appearances with 16 goals and 9 assists.

After Inter, the transfer to Monza, where Gagliardini played two seasons: he made 42 appearances and scored one goal and two assists. In the summer of 2025 he joined Hellas Verona: in the last season he played 29 matches, 25 of which as a starter, scoring one goal.
