President Tommaso Giulini took part in the “Deejay Football Club” show on Radio Deejay, hosted by Ivan Zazzaroni and Fabio Caressa.
THE ROSSOBLÙ JOURNEY
“As with all teams fighting for survival, the goal is to consistently stay at a certain level, with our values and characteristics, with pride alongside our fans. We’ll see what the results of the other teams will be this weekend. Next Sunday, we will go to Rome to face coach Claudio Ranieri’s team, and as always, we will play our game, as coach Nicola has taught us, with the desire to compete, as we’ve almost always done. We’ve missed victories against the big teams, but we’ve managed several draws. Survival will be achieved both with some unexpected results and by performing well in direct confrontations.”
PICCOLI’S SEASON
“Roberto, a great fighter, is having a good season; he almost never has a poor performance. We are helping him find confidence and consistency by removing some of the competition that might have held him back. Last night, he exchanged goals and assists with Viola, it was all very nice, but unfortunately, his goal was ruled out by just a few centimeters—what a shame.”
THE NEW STADIUM
“After years of work, we are at a very advanced stage. Cagliari is one of the clubs that has made the most progress in the path towards a new stadium. Local institutions and various authorities are working, and they have assured us that the decisive service conference will likely be concluded positively by the end of the current season. At that point, the Municipality, I hope by June 30, will declare the public utility of the project and will be able to launch the international tender to assign the construction of the stadium. Extraordinary Commissioner to speed things up? If we manage to close everything by 2025, we won’t need one in Sardinia. At the request of the government and the FIGC, we are planning an immediate 30,000-seat stadium with the aim of hosting the 2032 European Championship. If things don’t move forward within the timelines I mentioned, at that point, we will work on adapting and expanding the capacity of the Unipol Domus as much as possible. We’ve already invested a lot, and we don’t want to delay further.”
IN THE SIGN OF THE LEGEND
“The new stadium will undoubtedly be named after Riva, our legend. We have a multi-year agreement with Unipol for the new stadium, and we will certainly find the right compromise regarding the naming rights. Our new home and all of Cagliari can only be identified with Gigi Riva.”
