Lapadula to Spezia

First Team - 31/01/2025

Cagliari Calcio announces the transfer of player Gianluca Lapadula, who moves permanently to Spezia Calcio.

The Italo-Peruvian striker, who arrived at Cagliari in the summer of 2022, made his debut on August 5 at the Unipol Domus in the Coppa Italia match against Perugia (3-2), scoring his first goal for the club on September 10 in the 2-0 away victory over Benevento. From that point on, it was an exciting upward trajectory that saw the team move towards Serie A: after scoring 7 goals in the first half of the season, he added another 14 in the second half, including three braces in victories over Ascoli, Reggina, and Perugia. Closing the regular season as the league’s top scorer, he also played a key role in the playoffs: another brace to secure the win against Venezia; a penalty goal that sparked the comeback in the first leg of the semifinal against Parma, which Cagliari won 3-2; and a header in the first leg of the final (1-1) against Bari, the first step towards promotion, which was later sealed by Pavoletti at “San Nicola.”

Having secured promotion to Serie A, he contributed to the team’s fight for survival in the top flight with three crucial goals, each with significant weight: the one on December 11 in the comeback win at home against Sassuolo; his goal that opened the scoring in the 4-2 victory over Salernitana; and on May 19 in Reggio Emilia, he won and converted the penalty for the 2-0, securing mathematical survival.

One of the team captains, this season he scored in the Coppa Italia match against Cremonese. He leaves the Island after 82 appearances and 31 goals. With professionalism and dedication, a fighting spirit always at the service of his teammates, the Club thanks him for his contribution to the Rossoblù cause and wishes him all the best for the challenges ahead.

All the best for your future career, Gianluca!
