MATCH REPORT | Cagliari-Lazio 1-2

First Team - 3 February 2025

Nothing to be done for a strong and determined Cagliari until the very end: at the Unipol Domus, Lazio wins thanks to goals from Zaccagni and Castellanos. The equalizer from Piccoli, which temporarily leveled the score, wasn’t enough.

THE CHOICES
Coach Nicola opts for Zappa, Luperto, Mina, and Augello in defense, with Augello in goal; Makoumbou and Adopo in midfield, Zortea and Felici on the wings. Up front, Piccoli is supported by Viola in the attacking midfield role.

FIRST HALF BEHIND
Few chances and a lot of balance in the first half, with only one spark from Lazio, which was enough to give the biancocelesti the lead. Zaccagni was quick to capitalize on a cross from Isaksen.

PICCOLI’S EQUALIZER NOT ENOUGH
From the early minutes of the second half, it’s clear that Cagliari is determined to push forward and equalize, fueled by a packed and highly charged Unipol Domus. Piccoli manages to score at the 55th minute with a header that leaves Provedel no chance, earning him his sixth goal of the season. However, the visitors react quickly and retake the lead with Castellanos. Despite a late surge from the rossoblù, showing courage and a never-give-up attitude, Lazio holds on. In the end, Lazio comes out on top after ninety minutes. Focus now shifts to Sunday, February 9th for Cagliari-Parma.
