MATCH REPORT | Cagliari-Lecce 1-0

Cagliari defeated Lecce 1-0 to earn three crucial points at the Unipol Domus. Daniel Maldini’s first-half header decided the match. Pisacane chose Mendy up front with Maldini in support, flanked by Adopo and Fazzini; Winks and Romano in midfield; and the quartet of Zé Pedro, Deiola, Rodriguez, and Obert in front of Caprile. The match opened at a tense pace, with Lecce ready to exploit counterattacks and Cagliari attempting to dominate the game. The Rossoblu grew as the minutes passed and created the most dangerous chances, with Fazzini and Maldini being particularly inspired. The lead came in the 29th minute: Fazzini’s precise corner led to Maldini’s run, who headed past Falcone to make it 1-0.

Cagliari starts again with great aggression in the second half too and immediately comes close to doubling the lead with Mendy, who hits the post in the 46th minute. The rossoblù continue to push and come close to making it 2-0 several times: Maldini comes close to scoring a brace and, shortly after, hits the post again directly from a free kick. Pisacane’s team creates other dangerous situations, without however managing to definitively close the match. In the final, Lecce tried to increase the pressure in search of an equalizer and Cagliari had to defend their lead until the final whistle. The rossoblù manage the guests’ last attempts and maintain the 1-0 lead, winning a narrow victory in front of their fans.
