Cagliari lost to Roma at the Olimpico. The “giallorossi” won 4-2. After Nzola’s early lead and Maldini’s temporary equalizer in the second half, the home side scored two more late goals.
Roma threatened a few minutes later with Mancini, who burst into the box after a run and fired a low shot, only to be saved by Caprile. In the 10th minute, Cagliari were awarded a penalty: Feliciani punished Pisilli’s handball and pointed to the spot. From eleven meters, Nzola waited for Gollini’s movement and beat him, putting the “rossoblù” ahead. Roma equalized shortly thereafter: Molina crossed from the left and Lulli headed home. In the 21st minute, the home side took the lead through Pisilli, who collected a pass from Lulli and beat Caprile with a right-footed finish. In the 34th minute, Cagliari almost equalized with Adopo, whose close-range shot was parried by Gollini. Nzola attempted the rebound, but the ball was deflected out for a corner. The break ended with Roma leading 2-1.
The second half continued at a slightly slower pace and with several substitutions on both sides. In the 80th minute, Cagliari came close to equalizing through Mendy, played into the box by Maldini after a fast run: his angled shot was saved by Gollini. A minute later, the score was 2-2: Obert played a through ball to Maldini, who outpaced Mancini and beat Gollini with an angled shot. In the 85th minute, Roma regained the lead through Mora, who collected Ghilardi’s cross from the right and headed home. Two minutes later, the home side scored their fourth goal: Malen received the ball from Mora, controlled it, and fed it to his teammate in the middle, who turned the ball into the net in two bursts. In the 92nd minute, Trepy, a freshly substituted player, attempted to reopen the game with a burst of speed and a shot at the near post, but Gollini deflected it out for a corner. The match at the Olimpico ended in defeat. The “rossoblù” will return to action on Sunday, again in Rome, to face Lazio.
