Rossoblu coach Fabio Pisacane spoke to the media after the match at the Stadio Olimpico against Roma. His comments:
REGRET AND PRIDE
“We played a good game, holding our own against a team that certainly needs no introduction. We found new resources, players with specific qualities and characteristics. It’s a shame, because the boys deserved a different outcome today: they played with great dignity and dedication. We certainly have several positive things to work on; we know our goal and how we want to achieve it. Right now, it’s a tough time in terms of results; there will be other phases where we’ll achieve more, as we did at the start of the season, I’m sure. That’s football”.
MANY OPPORTUNITIES
“I told the team that I’d rather lose games like this than sit back and be submissive. Unfortunately, when they led 3-2, as well as with their second goal, we made a poor run. We didn’t deserve to lose. The important thing now is to build on the positives and the demands we’ve made, as we saw today. Playing ninety minutes as we managed to do for large stretches would have been unrealistic: the substitutions helped us, and we came to Rome to have 9 shots on target and 20 overall”.
HUMBLE AND COMPACT TO GROW
“I wouldn’t write off everything about the Bologna game: we tried to play the game and paid the price. Even though we didn’t perform as well in the second half and, overall, didn’t produce as much offensively as we did today. If we stay united like today, humble and focused, this team will undoubtedly achieve more. We’re working to push our ideas forward. It hurt me to see the team like that in Monza, losing in that way.
THE PLAYERS
“Romano did well as a midfielder. With Winks gone, it’s easier to put him there, and he’s certainly shown he has the quality to play in that position as well. Talking to Mancini? He certainly doesn’t need my opinion to decide on Romano and his role. I knew he’d do well today, but not out of a desire for revenge, but rather because of his ability and his desire to put his qualities to work for the team. Sugawara? I’m very happy. He needs to understand Serie A, he has to grow in some areas like everyone else, but he’ll undoubtedly help us out too. Today I met up with some of the players, two new additions in Nzola and Fadera. I give a big welcome back to Yael Trepy”.
