POST MATCH | Augello with the media

First Team - 05/05/2024

Red-blue side Tommaso Augello spoke to the media after the draw against Lecce.

ONE POINT TOWARDS THE GOAL
‘We played a good first half, determined, aggressive: we won many duels and attacked, defended well and allowed Lecce practically nothing. We scored a goal, another was cancelled out. We were doing what we had prepared, we could also have scored the second goal. Since the expulsion the game has changed: we had to go down, as was logical, it’s a pity because their goal only came in the 84th minute, so it hurts. However, it is also true that from that moment on we risked even losing in the final minutes. We were lucky to keep the result: we got a point, another step towards our goal’.

FORWARD WITH CONFIDENCE
‘We approached this match with the awareness that it was the most important match of the year, we took the field with the right attitude. It was a beautiful Cagliari team, it’s a pity for the episode, I’m convinced that eleven against eleven would have been a different game. On the other hand, playing more than 50 minutes in a numerical inferiority is not easy. We are sorry, there is a lot of regret: it would have been a victory that would have brought a lot of enthusiasm, but better a point than zero. When you can’t win, as the coach also reminded us, the important thing is not to lose. He was satisfied with our performance, we gave everything. We move forward with confidence’.

A TEAM THAT FIGHTS
‘I am happy with my growth, but honestly I think more about the team goal. We know that there will still be suffering, but Cagliari is there and fighting. We’re on the ball, we showed it again today: apart from the game against Genoa – a false step can always happen – from Udine onwards this team has always been there and has done something important. There are three games to go: we’ll have to get the most out of every match. In Milan it won’t be easy, but we have shown that we can score points even with the big ones. We still have to bring the boat into port, but we are there’.
