These are the words of Sebastiano Esposito, awarded MVP of the match, and Marco Palestra, in his last home game with Cagliari, after the 2-1 victory over Torino at the Unipol Domus.
Esposito’s words: “Today is a unique experience, but first and foremost, it’s the joy of earning 40 points, a feat Cagliari hadn’t achieved in a long time, of achieving our goal despite facing difficulties. We’ve had our ups and downs, and it’s undoubtedly been an enjoyable journey. We’re thrilled to be celebrating on home soil in front of our fans. Pavoletti? I hated him three years ago in Bari when he scored a last-gasp goal in the playoff final, but today we’re celebrating him because he deserves it; he was a great captain in our locker room.”
Palestra’s words: “I’m so grateful to the fans, Cagliari, and the city, because I was welcomed so warmly right away. We’re playing our last match against Milan, and then a new chapter will open for me, but I will always be a Cagliari fan.”
