Red-blue goalkeeper Simone Scuffet spoke on the occasion of Cagliari’s friendly match in Selargius. These are his statements:
THE RED-BLUE PEOPLE
“Matches like today’s in Selargius are important to allow those who have played a little less in recent matches to gain condition; at the same time we go into the territory, we meet our fans at home: they are always close to us, they really follow us everywhere. Even in the last game in Monza they were so many, together with them we are stronger’.
HEAD TO VERONA
“At the resumption of the championship we will have a very important direct confrontation, a very delicate match, we should look for the three points. There will then come matches with opponents who are stronger than us on paper, but Cagliari must always try to collect something, even away. Now we head to Verona: we should also learn from the first leg, in the first half we were playing a good game. Then we were down 10, they scored immediately afterwards, and then everything was more difficult. We must build on the good things we did, plus this time we will have all the support of our fans.”
SALVATION RUN
“Serie A is proving to be a very balanced championship, especially for salvation, where there are many teams fighting not to be relegated: every week the situation in the standings changes, a win can move you up positions, with a defeat you risk being overtaken by more teams. For us there will be a fight to the end. My goal? To help my teammates to reach the goal, maybe even with some clean sheets, which is important for the defence and the whole team.”
FIGHT AGAINST RACISM
“Today is the ‘International Day Against Racial Discrimination’, also this morning as a club we were engaged with school children in an initiative related to the theme. Football and sport must contribute to spreading positive values such as respect, equality. For racism there can never be a place”.
