Interviews - 29/02/2024

Rossoblù midfielder Matteo Prati spoke on Radiolina’s ‘Il Cagliari in diretta’ programme. The team’s momentum, the excitement of the Serie A debut, the affection of the Rossoblù fans, among the topics discussed during the interview. Below is an excerpt of his words:

ALWAYS BELIEVE
“Against Napoli we never gave up, we felt we could take it back. We played well, we certainly didn’t deserve to lose. Thanks to everyone’s commitment we believed until the last minute and that’s how Zito’s goal came”.

COMPACT FOR THE GOAL
“After Lazio, the team became even more compact. We wanted redemption, to start a new championship. In the last two matches, in fact, all this was seen. Now come some very important challenges for the salvation race: we are concentrated, aware that we have to give our best, only in this way can we reach our great goal”.

DESIRE FOR CAGLIARI
“From the very first moment when there was the possibility of arriving at Cagliari I had no doubts. I knew I was arriving in an important city and that I would find Ranieri, a great coach with uncommon experience and charisma. I thank him, President Giulini and Director Bonato, who wanted me so much”.

THE DREAM
“Since I was a child I dreamt of playing in Serie A: I always believed in it, training hard. My family helped me a lot on my path, even when things were not going well they were there for me. In two years I went from D to A: the goal now is to stay in the top division. I tell every boy to always believe, because with commitment and perseverance everything is possible”.

RELATIONSHIP WITH THE STUDY
“My parents always told me to pursue all my passions, but at the same time to continue my studies: that’s how I graduated, one day I would like to enrol at university”.

THE LEAP FROM SERIE B TO SERIE A
“The transition from Serie B to A was the most difficult step of my career. You can’t do anything wrong at this level: you have to have mentality, strength and constancy. The coach and my teammates helped me a lot from day one. In football, then, there are ups and downs: I’m training well, I have to be ready for when I’m called upon by the coach”.

THE CITY
“I had spoken to Nainggolan in June, he advised me to come here, I would have found a beautiful city, a warm and always smiling people: I thank the people of Cagliari because they have been very close to me from the start. Plus I love the sea, the heat: it’s beautiful here”.

THE FANS
“These people deserve Serie A, we have to fight for them too: our fans make us feel their passion and support everywhere. At home and away, they really push us to always give everything. They will be fundamental from here to the end of the championship, we cannot let them down”.

NEXT MATCHES
“The next matches will all be direct clashes. We have to think match by match, train hard and follow the coach’s instructions: his experience and advice will help us reach our goal and to stay in Serie A”.
