On the eve of the match between Cagliari and Parma (Sunday at 3 PM at Unipol Domus), Coach Davide Nicola spoke from the press room of the Crai Sport Center, analyzing various aspects of the game and the current state of the Rossoblù team.
TRANSFER WINDOW CLOSED
“There was a thorough analysis to confirm the working group for at least 90%, also taking into account the individual playing time and their characteristics within our system. In some positions, we could have been a bit short, but the arrival of Coman gives us the option to play with two offensive wingers depending on the game, and it allows us to rotate players in different positions. Players like Pavoletti, Deiola, and Viola have an important role within the locker room, which goes beyond playing time. We are trying to make the most of everyone with new ideas, without rushing them and giving time to the younger players.”
THE OPPONENT
“All the teams fighting for the same objective as us are under pressure, and it is definitely an important direct clash. Parma is a team that plays well, but can also concede something. We focus on what we know how to do to put them in difficulty. They have made some changes by bringing in Djuric, whom I know well, and he provides a strong and tall reference point up front. We know that the league will be tough until the end, whether we like it or not, with a goal to be reached with effort and difficulty, to be chased with hard work and the lightness of those who always give their best. Balance and confidence in one’s own abilities make the difference; mistakes can happen and should be limited, but they must be handled with clarity and without added pressure.”
DISCOVERING COMAN
“Coman loves playing on the left, but he can also play on the right, just like Zito Luvumbo and Felici. This gives us the ability to change positions during the match to have more options. We have versatile players who can make a difference. Florinel played his last match on December 8th, but he has always trained, he’s doing well, and now he just needs to integrate into the group and adjust to a new style of football. Everyone must have the ambition to make an impact, that’s how they deserve more playing time.
Zappa? He struggled, despite doing his usual work, against Torino and Lazio because he faced opponents like Karamoh and Zaccagni, who are very skilled at holding onto the ball, drifting, and shooting. But I am very satisfied with his performance.
Luvumbo? He trained for the first time with the group this week, and he’ll join us to feel the atmosphere of the match again. Maybe he can also be useful, but if he’s joining, it’s because we believe he’s ready to contribute, even for a short period.
Prati and Kingstone? No one has the door closed to them. Everyone has their own growth path. I really like Matteo, but in midfield, we have five players for two spots, and he probably fits better in a three-man midfield than in a two-man one, as we are using now. King has to work to build his status. He has quality and strength, he’s shown that, he gives his all, and he’ll be useful, but he needs to be given time.”
