Primavera defeated in Cremona

Youth Sector - 23 February 2025

A 2-0 defeat for Cagliari’s Primavera in Cremona, as they conceded two goals scored by Gabbiani in the 48th and 55th minutes.

The first chance for Cremonese came in the 7th minute with Faye, but Iliev was very alert. At the quarter-hour mark, Trepy took a free kick that tested Malovec’s gloves, with the goalkeeper doing well to save. The match was lively, with good chances for both sides, such as when, in the 22nd minute, the goalkeeper left the area and handled the ball, but the resulting free kick came to nothing, despite being in a good position. In the 27th minute, Lordkipanidze nearly caught Iliev off guard with a poor clearance, marking the last real moment of excitement in the match.

The second half began in the worst possible way: in the 48th minute, Gabbiani (23 goals in 27 matches) scored a true striker’s goal from an assist by Faye, cooling Iliev and giving the grigiorossi the lead. In the 55th minute, Gabbiani struck again, making it 2-0 from an assist by Spaggiari. From this point, the game became fragmented and lacked much spectacle, with Cagliari never able to get back into the match, while Cremonese remained focused, closing down and counter-attacking.

THE WORDS OF FABIO PISACANE
“We had a good first half, we were in the game, but in the second half, after their goal, we melted like snow in the sun. This cannot happen. In football, it’s normal to fall behind, but the reaction must be different: we need to stay in the game mentally, with character, and the right attitude. Starting tomorrow, we will work even harder, with more focus and determination. Now, we’ll take a day off: since January 4th, we haven’t stopped, with both the league and Coppa Italia, we’ve had an intense period. From Tuesday, we’ll start working on Empoli.”
