Rossoblù striker Eldor Shomurodov spoke exclusively to ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport’ on newsstands today. This is an extract of his words, on the 54th anniversary of the Scudetto:
IN MEMORY OF RIVA
“At Gigi Riva’s funeral I realised how much the fans love Cagliari. It was incredible to see all those people. When I was in Uzbekistan I had heard of Riva, I didn’t know that he had been the Italian national team’s greatest goleador. I went to see his videos, his goals”.
THE MILAN MATCH
“I have played against Inter before, but never managed to score. They are very strong, right they are ahead of everyone. But we have our own identity to try to score points. I like Mkhitaryan of them: he’s Armenian, we speak Russian. He’s a strong player, he plays calmly, he uses his head first and foremost and does many things for the team. He helped me a lot when I was at Roma”.
HEAD AND HEART
“Leaving in January? I wanted to stay. The injury kept me out, but it helped me. Because it helped me to come back with the right head. With Coach Ranieri you play if you’re ready to give everything, to do your best for the team. Let’s say I studied. Now I feel good, I’m playing. The double against Salernitana was a great satisfaction”.
UNITED TO THE OBJECTIVE
“Zito runs a lot, but I also go fast, I can occupy different forward positions. Gaetano has quality, Mina is a real leader in defence. The team is united, we can save ourselves. The recipe? To play every game between now and 26 May, like we did – all of us, as a team – against Atalanta on Sunday. Never give up, never relax”.
