The “Big Red & Blue Night” in Ponte di Legno

Ponte di Legno, home of Cagliari’s pre-season training camp, hosted the “Grande Festa Rossoblù” (Red and Blue Party) this evening. In the central Piazza XVII Settembre, managers, coaching staff, and the entire squad met and thanked the fans, amidst moments of fun and passion for Cagliari. The event, organized by the municipal administration and the Pontedilegno-Tonale Consortium, in collaboration with the club, was hosted by journalists Alberto Masu (Videolina – Gruppo L’Unione Sarda) and Francesco Aresu (Centotrentuno.com).

From the stage, amid applause and smiles, the first to speak was coach Fabio Pisacane: “I’m fortunate to be surrounded by guys who have a great work ethic, both players and staff. We’re working hard, with great desire and motivation, to improve. We have to earn everything: the jersey, the trust, the passion of our people, their affection.”

Captain Alessandro Deiola then took the microphone: “Wearing the captain’s armband excites me so much. Feeling the affection of the people today, but also every day here on the pitch, in Cagliari and around Italy, is something wonderful. It is an immense pride and, as a Sardinian, an added responsibility. One word to describe this group? Family”.

Then the other team leaders spoke, starting with Gabriele Zappa: “We thank you, there are so many of you today too. You always make sacrifices to support us. Advice for our younger teammates and new arrivals? We have a duty to represent these colors to the best of our ability: this is an important jersey we wear, we must never forget that.” “It’s easy for me to connect with a passionate and passionate club like Cagliari,” said Sebastiano Esposito. “A year ago I made a clear choice because I believe you can perform at your best in a club like this. I’m happy to be here.” Rossoblu goalkeeper Elia Caprile: “We have a fantastic team, and I’m obviously also referring to the goalkeeping team: we support each other, we’re happy to work together, and we have a great coach like Luca Bucci. Jacopo Fazzini: “We have a new adventure ahead of us to live together and we will give our best, without a doubt. Last season wasn’t easy for me, but it helped me grow and mature.” Sebastiano Di Paolo said: “I try to play calmly, with a bit of recklessness and also instinct: I think this is my strength. I hope to be able to show my abilities.” The English Harry Winks: “First of all, thank you for your welcome. I’m happy to be here and to experience this new adventure. The heat in Sardinia? Strong, but we worked very well anyway. I plan to learn Italian soon”. “Like Harry, I also hope to learn Italian soon,” said the young Demi Akarakiri, also English. “A new chapter in my career begins, I’m really happy to be here.”

There is therefore room for two young rossoblù players who, from the youth sector, have fulfilled their dream of debuting in the first team, both leaving their mark: Yael Trepy and Paul Mendy. “I remember well the debut with a goal in Cremona, a magical day, many emotions that are even difficult to describe,” said Trepy. Mendy echoed this: “The goals in Serie A were something splendid. I’m happy to be here: playing for Cagliari at the highest level is something important and every day I want to deserve all this.”

In closing, Roberto Muzzi – historic rossoblù striker, today in the Club’s Scouting Area – brought his greetings to the square on behalf of the Club and paid homage to the mayor of Ponte di Legno, Ivan Faustinelli, with a dedicated match shirt.

Amid photos, applause, and chants, the appointment is for tomorrow, Sunday the 26th, when Cagliari will train at the Temù municipal pitch both in the morning (10:00 a.m.) and in the afternoon (5:30 p.m.). Tuesday sees the second friendly match in the mountains of the Pontedilegno-Tonale area, when the Rossoblù will take on Modena.
