Under 19, victory over Atalanta

Youth Sector - 13 April 2024

A comeback victory against Atalanta and yet another proof of character for Pisacane’s boys. The Orobici took the lead in the first half through Fiogbe, but in the second half the red-blue hurricane struck with the three goals scored by Konate, Marini and Malfitano.

DANGEROUS RED-BLUES
Coach Pisacane’s red-blue team got off to a good start: in the 13th minute Arba crossed from the right, Konate kicked but the ball went out. Two minutes later, Bolzan’s beautiful volley, which collected a throw-in from Arba and let off a shot, but found Pardel’s response ready. In the 20th minute, Idrissi tried his hand, projecting himself into the opponent’s penalty area and taking advantage of a throw from Sulev, presenting himself in front of the goalkeeper: the red-blue side’s lob went over the crossbar.

ADVANTAGE ATALANTA
On its first real chance of the match, however, Atalanta surprisingly went ahead: it was 22 minutes, a corner kick from the right, Fiogbe took advantage of a carelessness on the part of the defence and scored undisturbed from a few paces. Having conceded the goal, Cagliari tried to react immediately with Bolzan, but the striker from inside the area kicked high. The guests made themselves insidious again with Tornaghi, who sent a header high. Then again Cagliari: coach Pisacane’s boys went to the conclusion first with Carboni (33′) and a minute later with Sulev. In the 40th minute Catena suffered a physical problem and was replaced by Franke. The first half thus ended 1-0 to Atalanta.

KONATE RESUMES IT
At the start of the second half, Manzoni troubled Iliev twice, first by blocking a shot from the Atalanta 7, then by intervening well in the exit. On 3 minutes came the red and blue goal. Idirissi’s left-footed strike found Konate ready in the middle: the striker put it behind the goalkeeper’s back, 1-1. Still dangerous for Cagliari in the 9th minute: Arba and Sulev pass on the right, the Bulgarian crosses low in the middle of the area, Bolzan kicks but finds the save on the line of the Bergamasque.

SUPER ILIEV
In the 12th minute the referee whistled a penalty kick for Atalanta: Castiello on the penalty spot was hypnotised by Iliev, who also saved on the rebound. On 16 minutes coach Pisacane made a change: Bolzan, Carboni and Sulev went out, Achour, Malfitano and Simonetta came in. Atalanta came forward again in the 31st minute with a free-kick from a deflected position with Bonanomi who committed Iliev. Iliev was again alert in the 33rd minute when Bonanomi crossed for Camara, who hit a left-footed shot but the Bulgarian goalkeeper repelled. A minute later Idrissi gave way to Marini.

COMEBACK VICTORY
A minute after his entrance on the pitch, Marini sprinted from the defence and with an incredible coast-to-coast overcame the Bergamasque rearguard: dribbling and the ball into the net behind the goalkeeper, 2-1. Having grabbed the lead, Cagliari suffered Atalanta’s assault in the final minutes, but with a lightning-fast restart and thanks to Malfitano’s insertion, the red-blues closed the match at 3-1.
