Viola with DAZN

Interviews - 28/02/2025

The Rossoblù playmaker Nicolas Viola answered exclusive questions from DAZN. These are his words:

TOWARDS THE GOAL
“Thirteen points recovered from losing situations is an important statistic. The league is tough, we are giving it our all, and even when we fall behind, we often manage to bring home points. We need to keep growing. This is my third season here, and every year I’ve seen things improve; this must be our path. The goal is clear: we need to achieve safety as soon as possible. We must always give that little bit extra, in training and in games, to reach our goal.”

YOUTH AND EXPERIENCEAND EXPERIENCE
“We can see the coach’s and his staff’s influence. We are a young team, but at the same time, we have players with more experience who make themselves available. Coach Nicola is doing a great job with everyone. The competition between me and Gaetano for the attacking midfield position? There is no competition, but rather a collaboration between people who only want the best for the team. My age allows me to better manage these situations and offer something to the younger players. I consider Gianluca an excellent player; he is giving us a lot. At the same time, we can do something great together and grow as individuals.”

A GREAT GROUP
“Piccoli is a key player for this team, and he has clear room for growth. We need to support him and make ourselves available to him, just as he does for us. If he keeps going like this, more goals will come. Zortea and Felici are two interesting young players: exemplary professionals who give a lot on the field, and I believe this will make a difference in the future as well. They can still grow a lot. Yerry? It’s not just instinct and great personality on the field: he’s a very intelligent, respectful guy who gets along with everyone. He’s an example for the younger players, both on and off the field. He was a pleasant surprise for me. I’m proud to be part of a group like this.”

ALWAYS IMPROVING
“My most important goal? The one at home against Torino, which at that moment allowed us to close the gap and make it 1-2. I dedicated it to Gigi Riva, as we were playing just days after his passing. Even though it didn’t bring any points, I hold that goal close to my heart: it was a meaningful goal, for the city. Future? I still feel like a kid; I think I still have a lot to give. I don’t know what will happen in June: I am a Cagliari player, and I’d like to stay here. My goal is to keep growing, day by day: positive growth, alongside my teammates. To always try to do better, to give that extra something that allows you to raise the level even higher.”
