Youth sector, the technical staff

At the same time, Cagliari Calcio also thanks Giovanna Ghiani, who in the last three seasons has followed the nutrition of the First team with professionalism and competence, contributing to the daily work of the staff and the well-being of the athletes.

Max Canzi will hold the role of Director of the Youth Sector, point of reference for the technical staff and responsible for the organisation, development and growth of the structure. Pierluigi Carta will be Sports Director of the Youth Sector, with focus on building the squad and scouting activities at a national and international level. Oscar Erriu Technical Coordinator of competitive and pre-competitive sports, key figure for athletes and technicians in the path of individual and collective growth, on and off the field. Mattia Belfiori will be responsible for the Basic Activities and the Cagliari Football Academy, with the coordination of the activity in the area and a job oriented towards the relationship with the affiliated clubs, the research and development of the athletes, with a growth path that is not only technical but also educational aimed at eventual arrival in the national categories of the Youth Sector.

Alberto Gallego will lead the Under 20 team, whose technical staff had already been made official previously (READ HERE). The Under 18 marks the return to Cagliari of a key figure from the recent rossoblù past, Daniele Dessena who was a protagonist on the pitch from 2012 to 2019 and comes from his last experience as deputy at Pro Patria (Serie C) after those at Frosinone between the youth and first team. The Under 17 will see Daniele Ficagna on the bench, born in 1981 with a long past as a professional footballer and who has experience on the bench with Carrarese (youth), Ghiviborgo and Piacenza (first team, as assistant), Venezia (youth). Another return for the Under 16s: Marco Mancosu had coached the Under 18s in the 2024/25 season just after finishing his career as a footballer with two seasons in Cagliari where he had grown up since he was a child until his debut in Serie A. The Under 15s remain with another historic product of the academy, Davide Carrus. Francesco Atzeni and Manuel Pierangeli for the Under 14 groups stationed in Cagliari and in the Alghero Training Center. The Under 13 to Mirco Tocchi.
