Cagliari promotes the events of the Sardinian Carnival

Rossoblù World - 23/02/2025

After the exciting performance of the traditional Boes and Merdules masks from Ottana, which took place at Unipol Domus during the pre-match of Cagliari-Atalanta, Cagliari Calcio continues its efforts to promote the culture and traditions of Sardinia. In collaboration with the Tourism Department of the Sardinia Region, the Club is promoting one of the most anticipated events of the year: the Sardinian Carnival, an event that spans the entire island with celebrations full of history, symbolism, and identity.

On the occasion of Cagliari-Juventus, before the kick-off, a special video dedicated to the occasion will be shown on the big screen at Unipol Domus: from the north to the south of Sardinia, throughout February and March, the carnival rituals will animate towns and cities, bringing to life ancient customs and masked figures with an archaic charm. The Sardinian Carnival is not just a celebration, but a true cultural heritage that has its roots in agrarian propitiatory rituals and pastoral traditions.

Among the most iconic celebrations are the equestrian jousts (such as the Sartiglia) and the parades of traditional masks, known and admired worldwide for their grandeur and deep significance, capable of telling centuries of history and conveying a sense of belonging to the community.

Each town has its own Carnival, unique and unmistakable: Cagliari Calcio, with its commitment to promoting the island’s culture, aims to be a witness and ambassador of this extraordinary tradition, bringing it to the attention of the wider public through the visibility of the sports stage.
