PodCasteddu, the official Cagliari Calcio podcast, returns for its fourth episode in its new format, hosted by Alessandro Spedicati. As always, a wide-ranging chat, this time with Rossoblu striker Sebastiano Esposito: football, his private life, his thoughts on his career, and his understanding of a passion shared globally, yet with many facets. He also retraces his career from his early days to his arrival at Inter, culminating in his decisive decision to join Cagliari, including experiences in Italy and abroad with Basel and Anderlecht.
Esposito speaks in detail about his football school, run by his two brothers, Francesco Pio and Salvatore, as well as his father: “I see so many coaches and trainers out there who lose sight of the proper focus a certain generation should have: you can’t teach children under 10 about ball possession and defense, but rather the game and fun that should be prioritized.” He discusses many topics, such as his important relationship with coach Fabio Pisacane; his relationship with his teammates, especially Michael Folorunsho and Elia Caprile; and his integration into a city and a team he’s never had any doubts about: “I like heated environments, with pressure, where there’s love and debate, which is also why Cagliari convinced me over other options. I’ve found an ideal environment here, and I already knew many of my teammates through my footballing background. We’re working towards our goal, and we can only do it together with our fans, whom I invite to always support us, as they always do.” Among other things, there’s also room for “not living just for the goal, but focusing first and foremost on sacrifice and running for the team, prioritizing an assist over personal achievement,” in an episode as always packed with content and a broader perspective, not just tied to the green field.
PodCasteddu is a Cagliari Calcio project with Terra de Punt, the Club’s official media partner. It’s available in full on Cagliari’s YouTube channel and in brief on other social media platforms.
