Cagliari forward Daniel Maldini, who found the net once again tonight at the Stadio Olimpico, spoke to the media at the end of the match against Roma. Here are his comments:
A GOOD PERFORMANCE
“We put in a great performance. We were really close and deserved to come away with points. We played against a very strong team that presses man-to-man and is aggressive and tough to play against. If you want to get a result at a ground like this, I think sitting deep and defending is the worst thing you can do. The coach instils the right attitude in us. We played this game on the front foot and created a lot of chances, and that’s the identity the coach gives us.”
THE CONFIDENCE OF EVERYONE AT THE CLUB
“I have to be ready at all times, regardless of whether I start or come on during the game. I’m receiving a lot of confidence and trust at Cagliari from everyone: the coach, the staff and my teammates. The coach gives us specific instructions when we’re without the ball, but then he allows us to move around freely. We have a certain amount of freedom going forward. We’re aware of our qualities. I’m really happy here, and now we’re taking it one game at a time. The national team? I’m focused on doing my best for Cagliari, and the Italy call-up will follow naturally.”
WELCOME BACK, YAEL!
“We’re happy to see Yael Trepy back on the pitch. He’s back, he’s doing well and he’s fully recovered. We’re looking after him and making sure he feels at home: he’s young and talented.”
