A new appointment with the fans on the Island: this afternoon, Cagliari met the Cagliari Fan Club named after the “Ex Rossoblù” in San Gavino Monreale. The first stop of the visit was the mural created by local artist Paolo Mazzucco (known as Mamblo) to honor the legend Gigi Riva and the Cagliari team that won the Scudetto. Alongside SLO Giorgia Argiolas, the players Alessandro Deiola and José Palomino were present. The delegation was received by the president of the Cagliari Fan Club, Alessio Cordella; the president of the local Cagliari Fan Club, Roberto Ortu, accompanied by Renato Copparoni, a goalkeeper for Cagliari from ’72 to ’78 and now part of the Fan Club board. Nicola Riva, Gigi’s son, was also present.
The meeting continued at the headquarters of the Cagliari Fan Club, officially inaugurated today. For the local player Deiola and the new rossoblù signing Palomino, it was a warm shower of affection, with plenty of autographs and selfies.
“This is a special occasion for me,” said Deiola. “I was born here, I started playing football here, and it’s where I began to dream of becoming a professional player and wearing the Cagliari shirt. Being with you today as a representative of the team fills me with pride. Thank you for your support.”
Palomino added: “Playing for Cagliari means representing an entire people. I’ve only just arrived in Sardinia, but it’s something you feel right away: the warmth and affection of the people is always with us, whether at Unipol Domus or away games. It’s a pleasure to be here today, to be with the fans, listen to their stories, and receive their positive energy.”
