Cagliari Calcio announces that it has entrusted the technical guidance of the first team to Leonardo Semplici, who has signed a contract with the Club until June 30, 2022. Alongside the coach, Andrea Consumi joins as assistant coach, fitness coach Yuri Fabbrizzi, and technical collaborators Rossano Casoni and Alessio Rubicini.

Born in Florence on July 18, 1967, Leonardo Semplici began his coaching career in 2004 on the Sangimignano bench, leading the team to immediate promotion to Serie D. The following year, he moved to Figline Valdarno, where he achieved a true sporting feat: over four seasons, he won three championships, guiding the team from Eccellenza to Lega Pro, and also winning the Supercoppa di Lega di Seconda Divisione.

After experiences with Arezzo and Pisa in Lega Pro, he stayed in Tuscany to coach Fiorentina’s Primavera, a position he held for three seasons. During this time, he reached the semi-finals in the 2013-14 season, promoted many talented young players, and played attractive football.

These results led him back to coaching a first team. He joined Spal in December 2014, initiating a new cycle of historic successes. In the 2015-16 season, he won the Lega Pro championship and Supercoppa di Lega Pro; the following year, he secured the Serie B championship, bringing Spal back to Serie A after 49 years. In the next two seasons with Spal, he consistently achieved the goal of remaining in the top flight.

Professionalism, adaptability, practicality: Leonardo Semplici is ready to take the reins of the red and blue team.

Good luck, Mister!
