On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3rd – proclaimed by the UN in 1992 to raise public awareness on issues of inclusion and the removal of all types of barriers – Serie A and the Paralympic and Experimental Football Division of the FIGC have planned several initiatives as part of the 14th matchday, scheduled from Friday, November 29th to Monday, December 2nd.
In all stadiums, the video of the initiative will be shown on the giant screens, while on television, the graphic “#ilcalcioèditutti – FOR A FOOTBALL WITHOUT BARRIERS!” will be aired just before the kick-off of each match. Athletes from the Paralympic and Experimental Football Division will also accompany the entry of the match officials and captains onto the field, with the captains carrying both the DCPS pennant and the traditional club pennant.
“Football is for everyone,” for a “Football for All Abilities,” in line with the DCPS (Paralympic and Experimental Football Division) 2030 CSR Strategy, will be an opportunity to remind us how sharing and solidarity perfectly align with the nature of sport in general and football in particular.
Cagliari and Hellas Verona will exchange pennants made in support of the aforementioned initiative, coinciding with the usual exchange between the team captains. The entry onto the field of both teams and the match officials will be accompanied by three players from the Experimental Paralympic Football, who will join the two captains and the referee.
During the halftime break, athletes from “Casteddu4Special” and “Hellas Verona For Special” will perform a lap of the field, while the video “Football is for Everyone” will be shown on the giant screen. At the end of the match, athletes from “Casteddu4Special” and “Hellas Verona For Special” will pose at the sidelines alongside the children from the Supporters’ School and the Cagliari mascot, “Pully.”
In the stands, there will be a delegation from the Association of the Blind, along with Paralympic athlete Daniele Cassioli, who will meet with the children of the Curva Futura before the match.
The Paralympic and Experimental Football Division of the FIGC, founded in 2019, has as its core objective the development and promotion of football for people with disabilities. It organizes a 7-a-side football competition, which currently involves 250 teams from 17 different regions and has 4,000 registered members, including players, coaches, and officials.
