Zortea on “Il Cagliari in diretta”

Interviews - 09/01/2025

The rossoblù winger Nadir Zortea spoke to the microphones of Radiolina, as a guest on the show “Il Cagliari in diretta”, which was also broadcast by Videolina. These are his statements:

PERSONAL MOMENT
“I’m happy about my third goal in the league, and that it was important for bringing the match back into balance after we went behind. We always work with enthusiasm and awareness, even though the lack of a win was bothering us, and we really wanted to get the three points back. Shot from outside the box? I try it; I’ve always scored from outside the area. If I see a gap, I go for it, and it worked out well in Monza. I didn’t sense any negative thoughts from anyone due to the consecutive defeats. We had hardly ever underperformed, and even at the beginning of the game, we played freely, creating the conditions for the goal.”

“SATURDAY AT SAN SIRO”
“Playing at San Siro gives you a different kind of energy, we’re facing a very strong opponent, and it’s going to be tough, but we’re ready. These are the great matches of Serie A, the ones that give you special motivation. We all know the talented players of Milan. Theo Hernandez? He’s definitely a player I follow closely for his characteristics and position, I can’t wait to face him, it will be challenging. He’s a player I like and have studied a lot, in the first leg I did well against him. It will definitely be tough.”

A NEW LIFE IN CAGLIARI
“The balance is already very positive, waking up with the sea in front of me is beautiful, and I wasn’t used to that. Soon, I’ll also take the boating license exam with Zappa, there’s a lot of work to do, maybe the match with Milan will be easier (laughs). I like the climate in Sardinia, I think it’s a positive factor for both athletic condition and health, reducing the risk of injuries. I’ve changed many teams in the early years of my career, many teammates, and many coaches. I think it’s a reason for growth to gain experience and have a variety of human and technical knowledge. I’ve practically changed teams every six months; in the summer, I was looking for a more stable and lasting situation, where I could be fully involved in the project. At Atalanta, I didn’t have space, then the opportunity with Cagliari came up, and I immediately said yes, especially since the move would be permanent”.

AIMS FOR THE FUTURE
“I am one of the few defenders to have scored three goals in the league; now I’d like to add some assists. Dreaming of the national team? It’s there, as I think it is for all players at the highest level. I know many guys who are part of the Azzurri squad, and it would be important for me to be part of it. I’ve never compared myself to predecessors in my position, like Nandez or others, especially because everyone has different characteristics. I’m giving my best and I need to keep going down this path. The fans are amazing; in Monza, we were practically at home. The full away section gave me so much energy, and scoring in front of them was fantastic. I’ve rarely seen a bond as strong as the one between Cagliari, Sardinia, and its people. I already knew some of the guys, including Zappa, with whom I have a great relationship, even though I’ve always played against him in the youth teams. We are a fantastic group, I feel great here. The coach has a good relationship with everyone; he jokes around and gives you a different kind of energy, and the same goes for his staff—they make us feel good. Even Caprile, the latest arrival, came in eager to contribute. He’s strong and will prove it here as well.”
