Born in Cagliari, class of 1988, he grew up in the red and blue youth teams. He made his first-team debut at the age of 18 in an away match against Ascoli on 27 May 2007, on this occasion also scoring his first goal. In two seasons he played 16 matches for Cagliari.

In July 2009, he left the base to move first to the ranks of Empoli, then to Siracusa, where in two championships he totalled 68 games and 11 goals. He confirmed himself as a protagonist with the Benevento shirt (70 appearances and 17 goals) and the Casertana shirt (59 games and 11 goals).

In the summer of 2016 he moved to Lecce, coming close to making it to Serie B in his first year. An appointment only postponed: with coach Liverani on the bench he will be among the architects of the double promotion from C to the top division, becoming captain and symbol man of that team. In the season in Serie A 33 appearances and 14 goals. He will leave the Salentini after 180 matches, 50 goals and more than 30 assists, the most prolific midfielder in the history of the Giallorossi club, the third highest scorer of all time.

In the summer of 2021, he moved to Spal with whom he played 36 matches with six goals. The following year, he returned to the redblue and became one of the most important players in the squad in terms of charisma and quality.

A versatile footballer, he can be used either as a mid-winger or in the three-quarter. Flair, technique, game vision, thanks to his qualities he easily finds his way to the goal and is able to put his teammates in a position to score. Gifted with a good shot from the distance, he is a specialist on set pieces.
