POST MATCH | Viola’s words

First Team - 01/04/2024

“It was a tough match, Hellas Verona is a team that makes you play badly, they have had some good performances even against the big teams. In the first half we struggled, in the second half after our equaliser we also had chances to win the match. But they were also dangerous. I’d say it’s a fair draw, we got a point against a direct competitor, it’s an important draw that gives us morale”: Nicolas Viola spoke after the match at the Unipol Domus.

THE TURNING POINT IN THE SECOND HALF
“The coach at the end of the first half asked me specifically for certain movements in the three-quarter, to create chances and numerical superiority, giving Zito in particular the chance to insert himself on the left: on that side, in fact, we were very insidious. Just on Zito from the field I thought there was a hold-up in the area. In the second half we grew in quality, as a collective. We faced it to win it, but then on the pitch there’s also the opponent. We are a team that fights, that always stays in the game, these are signs of a group that wants to save itself”.

EXPERIENCE AND CONFIDENCE
“Experience and fitness in this last part of the season will count for a lot: whoever takes the field, from the start or as a substitute, can be decisive and this gives me confidence. During the week we work on our mistakes to always improve.”

UNITED TOWARDS THE GOAL
“This team knows how to come out of difficulties great, we have shown that we are a united, healthy group; this team never dies, we are always there, we believe until the end. We’ll try our best to save ourselves and to do it as soon as possible. I am confident: with this spirit, this desire, this atmosphere, we will succeed. It’s a championship that, unlike the other years, involves many teams in the fight not to be relegated: a final rush awaits us in which we will have to show that we want to save ourselves at all costs.”

SALVATION POINTS
“Atalanta is a strong and physical team, very difficult to face, but we will play in front of our fans and we will give it our all. For us from here to the end they are all finals, Cagliari has to make salvation points against anyone. Matches like this on paper are complicated, but they must be faced without fear, with serenity, because they can give the turning point to our championship”.
